🔒 Data Storage & Security

Local Storage: All your personal data is stored locally on your device using secure AsyncStorage. We do not upload your data to any servers.

No Cloud Sync: Your profile, meal plans, and tracking data remain on your device only.

HealthKit Security: When you grant permission, health data is exchanged with HealthKit using Apple's secure APIs. This data remains under your control through iOS settings.

No Account Required: EatBelt doesn't require user registration or login, ensuring your privacy.

🍎 HealthKit Integration (iOS)

If you choose to connect EatBelt with Apple Health:

• Weight and height for BMI calculation
• Date of birth and biological sex for nutritional calculations
• Daily step count for activity tracking

Data We Write:

• Dietary energy (calories)
• Dietary nutrients (protein, carbohydrates, fat, fiber)

Note: You can manage these permissions anytime in your iPhone's Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices.

🌐 Third-Party Services

EatBelt uses the following external services:

• USDA FoodData Central API: For searching nutritional information about foods. This service only receives food names you search for, not any personal information.
• Your Own API (eatbelt.com): For local food database and disease-specific scoring. Only food names are sent, no personal data.

👶 Children's Privacy

EatBelt is designed for users managing specific health conditions (NASH and Type 2 Diabetes) and is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.

🔄 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
